Time Group Blog Post
Making the time video has been one of the best group project
experience to date. Group mates wanted to be a part of the project which is an
issue that occurs way too often. The personalities of the group’s members were
very similar which made group work less awkward and so much more fun. It even
made it to a point to where the group planned on meeting up with each other sometimes
outside of class to hang out without having school be the reason that brought
the group together. Having the whole group on board with an idea is something that
helped out a lot as well. The idea came up rather quickly and the groups vision
was very similar and was all on the same page. The group felt as if the video
was more successful than expected and extremely happy with the film created. The
reaction from the class and the feedback the was given was taken into account
and greatly appreciated. A major struggle for the individual video was finding someone
to film for the video because a lot of the shots required someone else to get
the shot. Struggles that occurred during the project were that the amount of
film that was desired to be put into the film exceeded the length of what the
video was supposed to be. Even after all of the editing more edits were needed
in order to get the film to the necessary time as well as getting all of the
clips wanted into the film. Other struggles that occurred was finding time for
all of the group to get together and edit because of work schedules as well as
other priorities. The last issues were finding the correct music to completely give
the viewer the idea that the purpose of the video is to represent time. The visuals
of a video have a huge effect on the viewer obviously but the sound is what
really captures a video. This is why finding the right music was so hard. Finding
music that had a fast-paced tempo in the beginning and then kind of a nice
resolution like ending took some time. After the showing of the video the pier feedback
was good. There are multiple advantages to using film over other mediums such
as writing or photographs. With writing some people are not able to visualize exactly
what the author is writing so what the person perceives from the text may not
match up with what the authors intended message was. As well as anybody can understand
images regardless of nationality, race, or the language spoken. The reason that
videos are better than photographs is that with photographs it is one single frame
which gives not context as to what is going on. As well as on the flip side a
video has the visual aspect to it as well as the audio part. Hearing the spoken
words is something that can make people receive the message even easier. Having
two different ways that someone can take in a message the better it will be for
the viewer. Based on the way a viewer perceives things again the message that
was planned by the photographer may not exactly match up. Something seen as beautiful
to one person may seem absolutely disgusting to another, it is all about
context. Videos don’t even have to have any dialogue and can portray a
brilliant message across a wide spread of people. The public nature of the
video had no affect because time is something that people talk about on a daily
basis, it is what makes the world run the way it does. Time being such a part
of public the videos content could have been anything and the idea would have
gotten across to people. Having the subject of abstract like the other group it
may have more difficult to make sure that the video would be perceived well by
everyone who may view the video. The self-portrait experienes was something that
was something different because being media productions majors being behind the
camera is something that is normal rather than being Infront of it. In all of
the individual videos, the group members did do a pretty good job of not only
opening up and telling the class a little bit more about themselves but as well
as acting out the idea of time. Having had issues with posting videos to social
media sights before not having one posting this video actually came as a
surprise. The link to the individual video, https://youtu.be/_l_Rq3fOIfY.
